Mhoo
Mhoo is a little country band with members from Tønsburg, Sandefjord and Horten where all concerned are 17-18 years old. Even though the band has only been going for 2 years, the quartet have already managed to play at, amongst others, Slottsfjell, warm up for Holly Golightly, in Brussels and various youth arrangements such as for example UKM.
The music is country pop with a strong association with everything else. From Spanish pop, blues to good old fashioned bluegrass. The band consists of: Miriam Kjølen on vocals, guitar and trumpet; Oda Dahl on vocal, guitar and mouth organ; Yngvild Flatøy on vocal and kazoo; and Håvard Tanner on contra bass and el-bass. The band reveal that they are inspired by each other, Johnny Cash, Calexico, Manu Chao and Dolly Parton.
Up until now they haven’t released anything other than a homemade garage album, but towards the end of October will release their first real EP.
Mhoo were actually the only band which attracted spontaneous applause from the members of this year’s by:Larm demo jury, and we’re really looking forward to the development of this band. The jury had strong assosiactions to favourites like Dixie Chicks and First Aid Kit.
