When Asha Ali released her debut album in 2006, it was hailed as the year’s most promising and exciting Swedish release. In October 2009, came the follow up, “Hurricane”, and Asha shows no sign of compromising when it comes to quality.

The title track “Hurricans”, has been regularly played on Swedish radio since early last year. Second single “The time is now” was also playlisted, as well as featuring in a worldwide advertising campaign for SAAB.

Asha Ali was born in Ethiopia, but has lived in Sweden since she was nine. Her lyrics are black as coal and the music heart-warmingly beautiful. The songs deal mostly with demanding relationships, and putting excuses and chaos behind yourself. Or as she says reflects, “The hurricane is my storm. I’m moving forward undaunted and every step I take, is a step nearer to myself.”
