Have you ever heard those young gentlemen, right out there in Nøgne Øst, howl against the stormy weather? Some times it’s laughter, other times screams – as if they are howling to get well from it? That’s the Kavaleriet who are firing their cannons.

- These three men have weened themselves on hard waltz and twisted tunes, according to the word from the capital. With their own melodies.

However the waltzes are teary eyed with homesickness, and the music bears witness to it, like the sound of the waves hitting the boat house, in the middle of winter.

These three men brag about their own concerts: “Listen, listen, have you ever heard so much racket from so few musicians?” And many agree: “Like two and forty wind musicians!”

The one more bearded than the next, these are the enlisted Officers in Kavaleriet. But you have to wonder if they’ve deserted?

The singer Ketil Birkenæs plays stand-up bass and harmonica, in a wonderfully playful mixture. Geirr Erickstad picks frantically on his six string guitar. Erick Nilsenius hammers on his battery of drums until it sounds like musket shots.

KAVALERIET marches on the count of three –
KAVALERIET chugs on the count of two.
