Goat the Head
Goat the Head play what they themselves call contemporary-primal caveman death metal and consists of Per Spjøtvold, Ketil Sæther (Lumsk), Kenneth Kapstad (Motorpsycho, ex-Gåte) and Trond Frønes (ex-Cadillac). The band was conceived by the banks of the River Nid in the wake of the turn of the century with primitive goals and simple attitudes. Goat the Head should only be as amazing a band as possible. Their birth-cry “Neander Tales EP” was recorded in 2005 and later released on Spjøtvold’s own label Left Horn Records. The nascent band emerged into the live scene with an incredibly intense and entertaining stage show, which captured the interest of the then TABU Recordings boss Patrizia Mazzuoccolo in 2007. That resulted in a recording contract and the autumn after the debut “Simian Supremacy” was released.
Despite the product failing to live up to the band’s own expectations, good reviews and an intense interest in the band from the international metal press was bestowed upon the band. Goat the Head responded by touring Norway and England, and launched an epic music video for the track “Darwinian Minions”. The video attracted phenomenal amounts of attention and was nominated to Metal Hammer’s Golden God awards in the category Best Video. The band also participated in Metal Hammer’s “Get In The Ring” presenting their caveman metal in a boxing ring in London in front of a gobsmacked and ecstatic audience. In the summer of 2009, Goat the Head went into the studio to record their second album “Doppelgängers”.
