Efterklang’s out-of-this-world pop is at the same time impressively ambitious yet engagingly intimate, a colourful sound panorama without any obvious family tree.

Childhood friends Casper, Mads and Rasmus grew up on the little Danish island of Als, right by the border with Germany. The trio moved after a while to Copenhagen where Efterklang began proper, together with Rune Mølgaard and Thomas Husmer in 2000. In 2004 they signed to The Leaf Label and released their debut which is still the fastest selling album in the label’s 15 year history. The follow up ‘Parades’ took the band up a level with 30 guest musicians, including a string quartet, a brass quintet and three different choirs (!). The video to the single ‘Mirador’ has already passed the slightly incredible number of one million views on Youtube. Mojo magazine and Drowned in Sounds declared ‘Parades’ amongst the 25 best releases in 2007, whilst Clash magazine included it amongst the top 40 in their 5 year history. Home in Denmark the record received no less than five important music prizes. Work on the third record is well on its way and a new deal signed with legendary 4AD. At time of going to press, the new L.P. is slated for release around by:Larm.
