Ingrid Olava
Apart from a short tour in the USA and Canada, Ingrid Olava’s main focus in 2009 has been working on a new album. Spring and summer passed with songwriting and demo recording, and 12 songs from this period were recorded in Malabar recording studio in the course of the Autumn with Frode Jacobsen (Madrugada) and Alexander Kloster-Jensen (Ricochets, My Midnight Creeps) behind the desk.
Besides Ingrid on piano, organ and vocal, the performers on the record are Erland Dahlen (Madrugada, Odd Norstoga, Nils Petter Molvær ++) on drums/percussion and Jo Berger-Myhre (Solveig Slettahjell, Blokk 5, Lasse Passage) on bass / bass guitar. The lineup expands on certain tracks with El Cuero’s Øyvind Blomstrøm on lap and pedal steel, and Alexander Kloster-Jensen on guitar.
Lars Horntvedt (Jaga Jazzist, National Bank) has arranged several of the tracks for wind and strings, and he plays all the wind instruments himself together with Mathias Eick (trumpet). This album is released by Universal Music on license from Ingrid’s own label Daring Viola Records.
The first single ‘Warrior Song’ is accompanied by an animated video, produced by Mathias Steinbru/Fabelfarm and comic strip creator Flu Hartberg.
