Never before have more delegates and festival goers attended, more and more people are discovering the magical festival atmosphere that by:Larm offers in the middle of Oslo during three days in February. We hope you had a good time and welcomes you back next year for a new edition of by:Larm.
Due to problems with paperwork in relation to his travel from the United States, the Red Bull Music Academy lecture and DJ set with DJ Harvey at BLÅ is cancelled.
BUT: In an amazingly shoort amount of time we’ve got two solid replacements:
At 17.00 Jonathan Galkin of DFA Records, the label known for LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip and The Rapture, will hold a Red Bull Music Academy Lecture. He will be interviewed about running a label, music in New York City and LCD Soundsystem, at BLÅ.
As a replacement for Harvey’s DJ-set this the evening Prins Thomas has invited Idjut Boys from London. Legends on the international disco scene on level with DJ Harvey.

Sybille Koller, INK Music, Berlin, Germany:
INK MUSIC is a music agency based in Vienna and last September we opened our office in Berlin. INK MUSIC does booking, not only in Austria & Germany but we also represent some of our artists for Europe, we do promotion for Austria, furthermore we run a label called Schoenwetter Schallplatten and a sync company called Swimming Pool. … because we are your friends is so much more than a slogan, for me that is it, totally. I love my job, I love my bands, it might sound trite but I’m doing this job with my heart and I couldn’t do it any other way.
It is a great pleasure for Red Bull Academy & by:Larm to welcome Four Tet and the legendary DJ Harvey back to Oslo!

When Creative Review contacted us about their upcoming music issue, focusing on festival design, they were so impressed by last year’s by:Larm-poster that they wanted to use it on the cover of the magazine! Kudos to our eminent designers Rune Mortensen and Frode Skaren!

We have reproduced a classic by:Larm bag for our 15th anniversary. This one was last used in 2007, and we still see people using it. It works both as a backpack and a shoulder bag, and have plenty of room for your laptop and documents. It´s also excellent for DJ´s, fit 12-inch vinyl records like a glove. To get one you must be registered as a delegate, and then it´s included in the package.
WiMP Partners With by:Larm & Confirms Sponsorship of The Nordic Music Prize
Music Service WiMP has partnered with music festival and conference by:Larm to sponsor the Nordic Music Prize 2011, the Nordic version of the Mercury Prize. WiMP, with its strong Scandinavian foothold and focus on local music, sees the prestigious arts prize as an ideal partner. The prize is awarded to the best Nordic album of the year based on votes from a jury headed up by the most influential voices in the Nordic music industry alongside international forces, including Jonathan Galkin, the founder and owner of DFA Records; Zach Kelly, writer for Pitchfork and Paper Magazine; Laurence Bell, owner of Domino Records; Andres Lokko, Scandianavia’s most influential music writer; Jeannette Lee, former member of Public Image Ltd and owner of Rough Trade Records; and Mike Pickering, Columbia Records A&R, formerly of Factory Records.

The Italian agent Marco Stangerlin from the booking agency wakeupanddream attended by:Larm in February this year and was spellbound by Jenny Hval’s performance. So spellbound he booked her for seven shows in different Italian cities this October.
The Internet is a word that, for the record industry’s part, has largely been associated with bad news. Falling CD sales, pirate bay, low earnings, the illegal copying and annoying copy protection are just some of the problems that have led to a new reality for artists, producers, publishers and music consumers.
After many years of focusing on the problems, it’s encouraging to see that money is now beginning to flow the other way, and that it’s actually the Nordic countries the international music industry keeps an eye on.
By:Larm proudly presents a Q&A with Simon Reynolds, one of the most influential writers on music and popular culture in our time.
by: Larm continues the success of speed meetings and will this year focus
on the Norwegian and Nordic live music industry.
We’re happy to announce the first two seminars for by:Larm.
Remember to register before the 1st of October to get the lowest price possible on your delegate passes! Click here to register.
