The New Generation

While the rest of the music business stared into the pandora box of filesharing and plummeting cd-sales, a new generation of record labels have worked their way up from the digital soil.

Spearheaded by eager, hardworking and young A&Rs, labels like True Panther, Tri Angle, Wierd World, Transparent, Friend Vs Records have established themselves as leading taste maker labels, making their own rules – and building the foundation for long term changes in the recording business. At by:Larm some of these labels will meet and talk about how it is to run a record label in 2012 and how they think The Future Will Look Like.

Sync panel

In 2011, Music Export Norway and by:Larm cooperated to present a special focus on synchronization and publishing, a field that has become increasingly important in recent years. We continue this focus in 2012 and invite a handful of key music supervisors from film, television, games and the advertising industry.

The panels will examine the use of music in ad campaigns, music styling and branding. Among the international delegates from last year’s sync/publishing effort was Alice Schnider (NBC Universal), Deva Anderson (play sound), JT Griffith (Nike), Amy Rose (Grey), Raphi Lima (EA Games), Martin Hewett (Sony Playstation), Julianne Jordan (Thor, Iron Man, Transformers, etc.) and Julianne Jordan (Jason Bourne, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Yogi Bear, etc.). This year’s guests and more details TBA.
